Despicable Me!

Despicable me, written and directed by Pierre Coffin, Chris Renaud and Sergio Pablos is an animation family comedy about a criminal mastermind named Gru who gets out done by another mastermind who has stolen a pyramid. Gru then has the determination to prove himself to the bank and his mother that he can steal the moon, but there is another mastermind that may just get in his way. In order to go through with his master plan he gathers a trio of young orphan girls to aid him with getting the shrink ray to assist him in stealing the moon, but soon enough he finds himself attached to the young girls, and Gru's dreams of stealing the moon becomes a distant thought when he gets closer with the young orphan girls, and they become quite the family.

Despicable me can be compared to the film The Incredibles where just like Despicable me its about a family fighting crime together. As the movie goes on the more connected the family gets, at the beginning of the movie the family is very disorganized and always fighting and never working things out together. As the film goes on the family soon learns how to use their powers to work together instead of against each other.

One thing that really adds to the movie is the several different famous movie stars used in this film for the voices of the characters. Some of the movie stars used were Steve Carell (who voices Gru), Jason Segel (who voices Vector), Russel Brand (who voices Dr.Nefario), Julie Andrews (who plays Gru's mother), and Miranda Cosgrove (who voices Margo). Recognizing these voices throughout the movie was fairly exciting knowing that this movie is more than just an animation. Pierre Coffin (one of the directors) was born in 1967 and is a french animator and director. He was a large contribution to the production of this movie, he was not only the director but he also contributed to some of the voices of the characters in this film. Chris Renaud (the other director of this film) was nomiated for an Academy Award for the animated shot in 2006 for the film "No Time for Nuts". Chris Renaud has also produced several other moves such as Ice Age, Horton Hears a Who!, and Robots etc. Sergio Pablos (one of the writers of the film) contributed to the story line of the film and calls himself a vocational animator.

When I first saw the previews for this film I thought that it may not be a movie that i would enjoy. Eventually i watched the movie and loved it! The characters are all so well played out, and each charcter has an important part in the film.Since the film came out on DVD the movie just based on DVD sales has made $600,000,000.  The film was very entertaining and very funny! It was extremely cute seeing the different characters such as the monions. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.
